Police Arrest Three for Mob Killing of Plateau Student

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to the mob killing of 25-year-old Ibrahim Mbaya, who died after being assaulted over an alleged theft in Jos. The incident occurred on July 26, when police received a report about an unconscious man brought to the Jos University Teaching Hospital.

Mbaya was confirmed dead on arrival, and his body was sent to the mortuary for autopsy. Following an investigation, police arrested Rinji Daniel Fwanji (25), Emmanuel Newyear (30), and Nensemka Fwanji (22).

Emmanuel Newyear was identified in a viral video allegedly attacking Mbaya with a wooden plank. The suspects claimed they attacked Mbaya, accused of stealing an iPhone 12, instead of reporting the matter to authorities.

They have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, with efforts ongoing to apprehend additional suspects. The police condemned the mob action, emphasizing the importance of due process in criminal cases.
