Police Arrest Four for Telecom Infrastructure Vandalism

On June 20, 2026, the Oyo State Police Command arrested four individuals suspected of vandalizing telecom infrastructure and recovering stolen solar equipment valued at approximately ₦8 million. The suspects, identified as Jimoh Mufutau (35) from Ibafo, Ogun State; Sahe Akanbi (34) from Onipanu, Lagos State; Lateef Ibrahim (37) from Igando, Lagos State; and Lukman Jimoh (38) from Isheri Berger, Lagos State, were apprehended during a routine stop and search operation in the Irepo area along the Oyo-Ogbomoso Expressway.

The police intercepted their vehicle, an ash-colored Toyota Sienna with registration number EP 992 KH, which contained four hybrid solar batteries. Preliminary investigations revealed that the batteries were allegedly stolen from a telecom facility in Offa, Kwara State.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing the equipment and attempting to transport it to an undisclosed destination. The police have taken the recovered items into custody for further investigation to determine the full extent of the suspects' criminal activities.

Commissioner of Police Abimbola Olugbenga commended the operation and emphasized the commitment to protecting national infrastructure.
