Police Recover N200M Stolen Railway Tracks in Oyo

On July 14, 2026, at 1:45 PM, the Oyo State Police Command successfully recovered stolen railway tracks worth N200 million and arrested three suspects: Wahe Ayind (54 years), Muham Sani (27 years), and Hassan Ibrahim (22 years). The police operation was initiated based on credible intelligence regarding the unlawful removal of railway tracks from Niger State to Oyo State.

The suspects were intercepted in the Gambari, Oril-Igbon area of Oyo State while attempting to transport the stolen railway materials. Preliminary investigations revealed that the railway tracks were unlawfully removed and were intended for clandestine movement to Lagos.

The operation involved a Howo truck with registration number CAL 972 XA from Cross River, allegedly used to convey the stolen items. The suspects played distinct roles in the syndicate, including that of a contract driver responsible for transporting the stolen railway tracks and co-conspirators involved in coordinating the operation and providing temporary storage in Ogbomoso.
