Man Arrested for Alleged Murder of Stepdaughter in Cross River

The Cross River State Police Command arrested Saviour Otu Adim, a 29-year-old man, in connection with the alleged murder of his six-year-old stepdaughter, Goodness Ekpo Okon, in Bakassi Local Government Area. The arrest was confirmed by ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, the Police Public Relations Officer, in a press release issued on Friday, 28 August 2026.
The incident was reported the same day by Mrs. Itoro Udofia, who alleged that Adim assaulted the child, leading to her death. Preliminary investigations revealed that Adim had accused Goodness of being a witch.
The suspect is currently in police custody, and the remains of the deceased have been sent to a mortuary for autopsy. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar for further investigation.
