Teenager Arrested for Stabbing Man to Death in C'River

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old boy for allegedly stabbing 20-year-old Uwem Daniel Akpan to death in the Akamkpa Local Government Area. The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 PM on Sunday, August 31, 2026, following a misunderstanding at Peters Street in the Awi community.

Uwem Daniel Akpan was rushed to the Naval Reference Hospital in Calabar, where he was confirmed dead. His family later recovered his remains.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, stated that the police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death and the suspect's involvement. The case is set to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar for further investigation and legal action.

Eitokpah urged the public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, assuring that the investigation would be thorough and further information would be provided as it progresses.
