Edo Police Arrest Man with 36 Live Cartridges

On May 23, 2026, at approximately 1:00 PM, the Edo State Police Command conducted a routine stop-and-search operation at Guobadia Junction along the Benin-Auchi Road. During this operation, officers intercepted a mini bus carrying seven passengers.

Three male passengers suddenly abandoned their belongings and attempted to flee the scene. Police officers promptly gave chase and successfully apprehended one of the fleeing suspects, identified as Richard Gabriel, a 36-year-old resident of Ovia South West Local Government Area in Edo State.

A search of Gabriel's bag revealed 36 live cartridges concealed within. The Edo State Police Command reported this operation as a success and commended the vigilance of the officers involved.

The Commissioner of Police, Mondai Agbonika, reassured residents of the command's commitment to combating crime and ensuring safety across the state.
