Ondo Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing His Mother

Samuel Akoade was arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly murdering his mother, Mrs Olufunke Akoade, in Ore, located in the Odigbo Local Government Area. The incident took place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, around 5 pm in the Powerline area.

Reports indicate that Samuel attacked his mother with a machete, causing severe injuries that led to her death. The police were alerted after the victim was found lying in a pool of blood at her residence.

Abayomi Jimoh, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed that a machete believed to be the weapon used in the attack was recovered. Initially, Samuel fled the scene but was later apprehended by police operatives.

The deceased's body has been taken to a mortuary, and the investigation has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure for further inquiry. CP Felix Ohagwu has mandated a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the killing.
