Son Arrested for Allegedly Hacking Mother to Death in Ondo

Samuel Akoade was arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly murdering his mother, Olufunke Akoade, in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at approximately 5pm. The attack reportedly involved Samuel using a machete, inflicting deep injuries that led to her death.

Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh confirmed that the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood at her residence. Upon receiving the report, police operatives from Ore Division secured the scene and began preliminary investigations, recovering a machete believed to be the weapon used in the attack.

Initially, Samuel fled the scene but was later apprehended by police. The remains of Olufunke Akoade have been taken to a mortuary, and the case has been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure for thorough investigation, as directed by Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu.
