Police Arrest Cult Members, Seize Hard Drugs in Uyo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command announced the arrest of three suspected members of the Vike confraternity during a raid on a suspected cult hideout in Uyo. The operation, which took place on a Tuesday, was based on intelligence that led officers to storm a residential building off Abak Road.

The suspects, identified as Dick Udofia, Emem Charl, and Ubong Matthew, were found in possession of hard drugs, including substances identified as methamphetamine and cannabis, commonly known as Indian hemp. The police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Timfon John, stated that the suspects admitted to being members of the Vike confraternity, with one suspect, Ubong Matthew, allegedly being forcibly initiated into the cult on July 5.

The police are continuing efforts to apprehend other fleeing members of the group.
