Police Arrest Three Cultists with Drugs in Uyo

On Monday, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested three suspected members of the Vike confraternity during an intelligence-led operation in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The suspects, identified as Dick Udofia, Emem Charl, and Ubong Matthew, were apprehended in a residential building along Abak Road, which was linked to cult-related activities and illicit drug abuse.

During the raid, police recovered substances believed to be methamphetamine and cannabis, commonly known as Indian hemp. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects admitted to their membership in the Vike confraternity.

Additionally, Ubong Matthew was allegedly forcefully initiated into the cult group on July 5, 2026, during a ceremony reportedly masterminded by Dick Udofia. Timfon John, the police spokesperson, stated that the suspects are students of a polytechnic, whose names have been withheld, and emphasized the police's commitment to combating cultism and drug-related activities in the state.
