Police Arrest Suspects Over Peter Obi's Convoy Blockade

The Benue State Police Command has arrested individuals in connection with the blockade of the convoy of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, on Tuesday. Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiogbu announced this at a press conference in Makurdi on Wednesday, although he did not specify the number of arrests made.

Nwadiogbu stated that police officers deployed for Obi's visit acted in a professional and tactical manner to prevent an escalation that could have led to loss of life and property damage. He emphasized that Obi was safely escorted back to the airport after the incident.

The police have initiated intelligence-led operations to identify those responsible for the blockade, with key arrests already made. Nwadiogbu reiterated that every Nigerian has the right to freedom of movement, regardless of political affiliation, and assured the public that those found culpable would face legal consequences.

He urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue.
