Police Arrest Three for Motorcycle Theft in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command arrested three suspects involved in motorcycle theft and recovered seven stolen motorcycles during operations across the state. The arrests took place on July 18, 2026, at approximately 2 PM, following credible intelligence regarding stolen motorcycles in the Ado Ekiti area.

The Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) acted on information about a stolen red Bajaj motorcycle near Olaoluwa Muslim Grammar School and pursued the suspects along Ilaw Road. The primary suspect, Mustapha Lekan, 38, from Osun State, was apprehended and confessed to stealing two motorcycles in Ado Ekiti.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Bless Adebiyi and Ogunbayo Adebiyi for receiving stolen motorcycles. In total, six additional stolen motorcycles were recovered.

The police are working to identify the rightful owners of the recovered motorcycles. According to police spokesman Sunday Abutu, the suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Commissioner of Police Michael Falad commended the swift response of the officers and reaffirmed the command's commitment to combating crime in Ekiti State.
