Police Foil Robbery in Ekiti, Two Suspects Arrested

On June 29, 2026, the Ekiti State Police Command successfully foiled a robbery along the Ikole-Oy road, arresting two suspects, Ezekiel Balogun and Usman Wada, and recovering stolen items. The operation was led by Police Public Relations Officer Sundai Abutu, who stated that the police acted on credible intelligence.

The incident involved three armed hoodlums who attacked a petrol tanker, robbing the driver and a motor boy of their mobile phone and abducting them into a nearby bush. The suspects attempted to flee with six truck tires and a load from an ash-colored Ford minibus towards Kogi State.

However, police patrols intercepted the vehicle, leading to the arrest of the two suspects while a third suspect escaped. The case has been transferred to the command's Violent Crime Response Unit for further investigation, with efforts intensifying to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

Michael Falad, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, reassured residents of the command's commitment to protecting lives and property.
