Yobe Police Arrest Three Suspected Vandals, Recover Cables

On July 23, 2026, the Yobe State Police Command arrested three individuals suspected of vandalism in Gashua. The arrested suspects include Abubakar Idris, a 27-year-old aluminium pot maker from the Sabon Gari area in Bade Local Government Area, who was apprehended while allegedly in possession of stolen power cables.

During the operation, police recovered two large bundles of power cables. Further investigations led to the arrests of Samaila Suleiman, 25, and Ibrahim Ado, 26.

The police also seized a tricycle, known as Keke NAPEP, with registration number 497 DPH, and an unregistered Boxer motorcycle believed to have been used in the criminal activities. Commissioner of Police Usman Kanfani Jibrin stated the command's commitment to tackling vandalism and urged the public to provide information to help safeguard critical infrastructure.

Ongoing investigations aim to apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate and ascertain the ownership of the recovered items.
