Yobe Police Arrest Three Suspected Cable Vandals

The Yobe State Police Command arrested three suspected vandals involved in the theft of power cables and transformer components. The arrests occurred on July 23, 2026, when Abubakar Idris, a 27-year-old aluminium pot maker from the Sabon Gari area in Bade Local Government Area, was apprehended at 1 p.m. with two large bundles of suspected stolen power cables.

Following this, two additional suspects, Samaila Suleiman (25) and Ibrahim Ado (26), were arrested. The police recovered a tricycle, known as Keke NAPEP, with registration number 497 DPH, and an unregistered Boxer motorcycle allegedly used in the operation.

Commissioner of Police Usman Kanfani Jibrin stated the command's commitment to tackling vandalism and economic sabotage, urging the public to provide information to assist in safeguarding critical infrastructure. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and ascertain the ownership of the recovered items.
