Nigeria Police Initiates Action Against Erratic Officer

The Nigeria Police Force commenced disciplinary proceedings against a sergeant identified in a viral video that circulated on social media, showing him behaving erratically while in camouflage uniform. The incident occurred in Ekiti State, and the officer is attached to the Ikole Ekiti Division of the police headquarters.

Following the video's circulation, a statement was issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon, confirming that the officer has been taken into custody. The Commissioner of Police for Ekiti State, Falad Adegoroye Michael, ordered a comprehensive psychological and medical evaluation of the officer as a prerequisite for the formal disciplinary process.

This evaluation aims to determine if there are underlying health concerns linked to the officer's behavior. Inspector General of Police, Olutunji Disu, condemned the conduct displayed in the video, describing it as a gross violation of the standards expected from police members and reaffirming the Force's zero-tolerance policy towards substance abuse and behavior that undermines public trust.
