Ekiti Police Dismiss Sergeant for Illicit Drug Use

The Ekiti Police Command dismissed Sergeant Osayingbemi Temitop due to involvement in an incident linked to illicit drug use. SP Sundai Abutu, the command's spokesperson, disclosed that the dismissal followed a viral video capturing Temitop's erratic behavior in Ikole Ekiti on May 9.

After the video surfaced, the officer was subjected to a medical psychological evaluation. The psychological assessment confirmed that Temitop was emotionally stable, but a medical test revealed traces of tobacco and amphetamine in his system.

During further inquiries, Temitop confessed to having taken illicit drugs. The disciplinary procedures concluded that he was culpable of misconduct, leading to a recommendation for his dismissal, which was upheld.

Abutu reiterated that the police remain a disciplined organization and do not condone acts of indiscipline or unprofessional conduct that could tarnish the image of the force. Falad Micheal was charged with upholding discipline and professional accountability within the command.
