Delta Police Trial Officers Over Viral Extortion Video

The Delta Police Command has commenced disciplinary proceedings against two officers following a viral video that depicted them allegedly extorting money from a motorist inside a police station. This incident occurred on January 13, 2026, and has been described as unprofessional and embarrassing for the police force.

The officers were seen using a Point of Sale (POS) machine to collect money, which is against the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, who prohibits officers from demanding payments from the public. The police command has assured that the outcome of the disciplinary process will be made public, emphasizing that extortion and abuse of office will not be tolerated.
