Investigation Launched into Pastor Udo's Alleged Suicide

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged suicide of Pastor Etetim Udo, the Founder and General Overseer of Power in the Word of God for the World Ministries, in Oron local government area. The incident was reported on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at approximately 8:18 am, following a distress call from a resident who noticed an unusual gathering at the church premises.

The resident was informed by the deceased's children that their father had allegedly taken his own life. Police operatives were dispatched to the scene, where preliminary observations indicated that Pastor Udo was suspended with a twisted mosquito net rope.

Relevant exhibits were collected for forensic examination. The deceased's body was later taken to the hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed his death.

His remains have been deposited at the mortuary pending an autopsy. Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, assured the public of a thorough and impartial investigation and encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
