Nasarawa Police Restructures Tactical Units for Efficiency

On a recent Friday during a monthly officers' conference in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Police Commissioner Mohammed Shetima Jauro announced an immediate restructuring of tactical units within the Nasarawa State Police Command. This decision aims to enhance operational efficiency and address concerns raised by Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, regarding the unnecessary proliferation of tactical teams.

The restructuring intends to streamline operations and ensure proper coordination, thereby maximizing impact. Commissioner Jauro emphasized that duplicative investigations on single cases would no longer be tolerated, as such practices create confusion and undermine public confidence in the police.

He also ordered an immediate halt to the deployment of police officers in civil matters, particularly land disputes, and warned that any officer found engaging in such activities would face strict disciplinary measures. Additionally, he directed a comprehensive audit of police arms within the command to ensure accountability and proper conduct.
