Five Family Members Found Dead in Abia State Home

The Abia State Police Command confirmed the mysterious death of five family members in Umuimo, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area. The victims, Mr Kachi Nnabugwu, his wife Chinaza, and their three children, were discovered deceased in their residence on July 22, 2026, after being uncontactable for several days.

The incident was reported to the Osisioma Divisional Police Headquarters by the deceased's brother, who, after failing to reach them, went to their home. Upon forcing entry, they found the lifeless and decomposing bodies.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, stated that detectives have begun investigations, including a preliminary inspection of the scene and the bodies, which have been sent to the morgue for preservation and autopsy. Neighbors had last seen the family on July 18, and during the search, leftover food and a generator were found in the house.
