Explosion at Plateau Petrol Station Claims Two Lives

On Saturday, the Plateau State Police confirmed an explosion at the Natti Petroleum Investment Nigeria Ltd petrol station located in Bokko Local Government Area. The incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left three others injured.

Police spokesperson Alfr Alabo issued a statement clarifying that the explosion was not a bomb blast, as suggested by some online reports. The explosion occurred during ongoing repair work on an underground storage tank.

In light of this incident, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has renewed efforts to address the persistent violence affecting the region. This meeting comes amid a resurgence of attacks in parts of Plateau, which have resulted in numerous fatalities and property destruction, further exacerbating the fragile security situation in the North Central state.

The recent violence has reportedly claimed the lives of dozens of residents, including women and children, highlighting a troubling pattern of recurring violence in the area.
