Fuel Tank Explosion in Plateau Kills Two Welders

On April 17, 2026, a tragic explosion at a filling station in Daffo Town, located in the Bokko Local Government Area of Plateau State, led to the death of two welders and injuries to three other individuals. The explosion occurred while maintenance work was being conducted on an underground tank.

According to Kefa Mallai, the chairman of the Community Peace Observers in the local government area, the incident happened when the welders attempted to repair a leak in the tank, which they believed was safe to work on. Suddenly, the tank exploded, resulting in a fire that killed the two artisans instantly.

The three injured individuals were bystanders who were watching the repair work. They were subsequently rushed to the hospital for treatment.

As of the time of the report, the identities of the deceased and injured individuals had not been disclosed, and no official statement had been issued by the authorities regarding the incident.
