TikTok Creator Detained Over Bread Safety Claims

Love Dooshima, a TikTok content creator, was detained by the Nigerian police at the Zone 7 police headquarters in Abuja after she honored an invitation for questioning regarding a viral video. The video raised concerns about the safety of Bon Bread, claiming that the bread remained fresh for nearly two months.

Following her detention, human rights lawyer Inibeh Effiong, along with others, demanded her release, citing health concerns as Dooshima is a hypertensive patient. The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, intervened, ensuring her release at 12:30 AM on April 21, 2026.

The incident sparked widespread online reactions, with debates about food safety standards and the implications of law enforcement in civil disputes. Bon Bread's founder, Maria Abdulkadir, expressed her commitment to product safety and indicated potential legal action against Dooshima for alleged reputational damage.
