Kebbi Police Deny Terror Claims Against 'Sai Malam' Group

The Kebbi State Police Command issued a statement on Friday, dismissing claims that a group popularly known as 'Sai Malam' is a terrorist organization. The command's spokesperson, Bashir Usman, clarified that investigations into the group's activities did not establish any terror-related offenses.

The police were responding to reports of the group's alleged resurgence in the Argungu local government area. They confirmed that individuals were arrested in Zuru in February 2026 for alleged criminal offenses, which included the possession of counterfeit currency from various countries, such as the Nigerian naira, United States dollar, CFA franc, and Libyan dinar, as well as ritual occult objects.

No firearms were recovered during the investigation. The police reiterated their commitment to combating all forms of crime and maintaining law and order across the state, urging the public to remain calm and provide credible information to assist ongoing investigations.
