Kebbi Commissioner Denies New Insurgency Group Claims

Alhaji Yakubu Ahm, the Kebbi State Commissioner, refuted claims of a new insurgency group known as Sai Malam, describing the reports as outright lies and misinformation aimed at discrediting the state government ahead of the 2027 general elections. During a courtesy visit to Malam Ali M.

Ali, the Managing Director of New Agency Nigeria in Abuja, Ahm stated that the group consists of young people engaged in cybercrime rather than terrorism. He also dismissed media reports alleging that 130 children die daily in Kebbi State due to high child mortality rates, calling these claims false.

Ahm emphasized that investigations by relevant security agencies found no evidence of a terror group, but rather a group involved in online extortion. He accused opposition elements of spreading disinformation to undermine the achievements of Governor Nasir Idris's administration.

Ahm urged the public to rely on authentic information and highlighted the government's efforts to improve the state’s infrastructure and security.
