Police Eliminate Bandit Kingpin in Imo State Raid

On August 6, 2026, the Police Special Tactical Squad–Force Intelligence Department (STS-FID) conducted an intelligence-led operation in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, Imo State, resulting in the elimination of wanted bandit kingpin Ojiogu Elumah Martin, known as "Acid." The operation, directed by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu and led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, targeted Elumah due to his alleged involvement in multiple violent crimes, including the killing of HRH Eze Barrister Paulinus Ekwueme and his security guards. During the raid, Elumah engaged police operatives in a gun battle, which lasted several hours before he was neutralized.

The police recovered one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, and 56 rounds of live ammunition. Investigations revealed that Elumah was linked to numerous violent acts in the area from 2024 to 2026.

The police assured the public that efforts to apprehend other gang members who escaped would continue.
