Police Arrest Two Foreign Nationals in Kidnap Plot

The Kwara State Police Command successfully foiled a kidnapping and extortion plot, arresting two foreign nationals identified as Yakubu Ismaila and Hadiza Kosia from the Republic of Togo. The operation was initiated following a complaint from a local resident, Ismaila, who reported receiving threatening phone calls demanding 22 million naira to prevent his abduction and the murder of his younger brother, Musa Ismaila, if the ransom was not paid.

The police launched an intelligence-driven operation in collaboration with a response team, utilizing technical support to track the suspects. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to their involvement in the criminal conspiracy.

A mobile phone used to make the threatening calls was recovered as critical evidence. The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Ojo Adeyemi, commended the officers for their swift response, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in maintaining security.
