Ogun Police Arrest Three for Attempted Secret Burial

On April 9, 2026, the Ogun State Police Command arrested three suspects—Maureen Okiri (35), Salia Karikari (15), and Jubril Karikari (12)—in connection with the alleged murder of Stanlei Okiri (38) in Akute, Ogun State. The arrests followed an anonymous tip-off regarding suspicious activities in the area.

Police arrived at the scene to find the suspects attempting to bury a blood-drenched corpse in a shallow grave, indicating an effort to conceal the crime. Preliminary examinations of the body revealed severe injuries to the victim's head, suggesting he was attacked with a wooden pestle.

The suspects were apprehended and are currently in police custody, awaiting transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution. Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act, describing it as cruel and inhuman, particularly due to the alleged involvement of close family members.
