Ogun Police Thwart Truck Hijacking, Recover Stolen Vehicle

On May 6, 2026, the Ogun State Police Command, led by DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, successfully foiled a truck hijacking incident in the Ado area of Ijebu East Local Government Area. The operation was initiated following a distress call from the driver, who was accosted by hoodlums while transporting motor spare parts.

Preliminary findings indicated that the driver managed to intercept the suspects, who had forcefully taken the truck. Upon receiving the report, police collaborated with highway patrol units and swiftly mobilized to the scene, pressuring the suspects to abandon the truck and flee.

The police's prompt intervention prevented the loss of property, although the driver sustained minor injuries to his right ankle during the incident and was administered first aid. A thorough search of the recovered truck revealed wooden rifles wrapped in black tape.

Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the swift and professional response of the police and reassured the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety of road users.
