Police Pursue Killers of Comedian Isaac Nwosu in Awka

The Anambra State Police Command has initiated a manhunt for the gunmen who shot and killed popular comedian and master of ceremonies Isaac Nwosu, known as “Azia Nwosu,” and another unidentified man in Awka on Sunday night, August 30, 2026. Nwosu was shot along S.M.

Okeke Street, while the second victim was killed on Capital City Road, Amaenyi. Eyewitnesses reported that three assailants, driving a tinted vehicle, trailed Nwosu from his home, double-crossed his vehicle, and opened fire, leaving him dead in his car.

They also shot the second victim by the roadside, stealing his belongings before fleeing. The police confirmed the incidents, which caused panic among residents.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, condemned the attacks and stated that efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators are ongoing, urging public cooperation. The police are investigating potential links to cult-related activities.
