Delta Police Enhance Waterway Patrols Against Kidnapping

The Delta State Police Command has launched intensified anti-kidnapping patrol operations on the waterways of Delta and Anambra states. The patrols, coordinated by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, involve personnel from the marine unit and a support team known as the Buffalo Team.

These operations focus on critical areas, particularly around the Second Niger Bridge and the Asaba Grand Hotel area. The police have emphasized the importance of safety protocols, with officers properly equipped with life jackets during these operations.

The State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, reassured residents of the command's commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state. He encouraged the community to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information regarding kidnapping and ransom activities, which remain a persistent security concern in the Niger Delta region, where criminal elements exploit the challenging terrain to ambush boats and abduct commuters.
