Eight Cultists Arrested for Assaulting NDU Student

On July 14, 2026, at approximately 10 p.m., the Bayelsa State Police Command arrested eight suspected cultists following a distress call regarding an assault on Princ Hansen, a 300-level student at Niger Delta University, in a hotel along Mike Okokpo Street, Yenagoa. The suspects, identified as Desmond Linu (20), Richman Serbokuro (21), Plain Lion (19), Richman Joel (20), Solomon Damian (23), Destini Serbokuro (24), Isaac Goodnew (22), and Theresa Franci (22), allegedly attacked Hansen, causing him grievous bodily harm and stealing N70,000 from him.

The police's violent crime response unit acted on the information received from the public. During the operation, the police recovered illegal substances, including suspected Indian hemp and charms.

The police spokesman, DSP Musa Moham, stated that the investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be prosecuted upon its conclusion. The command reiterated its commitment to tackling cultism and violent crime in the state.
