Police Arrest Eight Suspected Cultists in Bayelsa

On July 14, 2026, at approximately 2200 hours, the Bayelsa State Police Command, led by DSP Musa Moham, arrested eight suspected cultists in Yenagoa. The suspects were reported to have assaulted a 300-level student of Niger Delta University, identified as Prince Hansen, over an alleged debt of N70,000.

The police responded to a distress call from the public regarding the incident, which occurred at a hotel where the suspects were staying. Upon arrest, the police recovered items including Indian hemp and charms associated with cult activities.

The suspects will be charged in court following the conclusion of the investigation. The Bayelsa State Police Command reiterated its commitment to combat cultism and violent crime in the state, urging the public to continue providing credible information to enhance safety and security.
