Police Arrest Fake JAMB Coordinator in Anambra

On Saturday, the Anambra State Police Command arrested a male suspect named Eric Nwombu for allegedly impersonating a JAMB coordinator and unlawfully possessing examination materials. The police, led by spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga, reported that items recovered from Nwombu included eight JAMB examination slips and an exercise book containing the names and examination numbers of students, which he could not satisfactorily account for.

The arrest was prompted by reports that Nwombu was collecting 2026 JAMB examination slips from students at a cyber café in Atani. Upon inquiry, he allegedly claimed to be the JAMB 2026 coordinator at the Atani staff computer center.

When police approached him, he attempted to flee but was apprehended. Preliminary investigations have commenced, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for discreet investigation.

Police Commissioner Ikioy Orutugu emphasized the command's commitment to safeguarding the integrity of public examinations and urged the public to report any suspicious activities.
