Police Arrest Nine in N60m Truck Diversion Scheme

The Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, Lagos State, apprehended nine suspects linked to a truck diversion syndicate on May 15. The operation was led by Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Olohundar Jimoh, who disclosed the arrests in a statement issued by the command's spokesperson, DSP Gbenga Afolayan.

The police acted on credible intelligence to launch a covert operation aimed at dismantling the criminal network involved in diverting goods meant for lawful destinations to illegal buyers in the black market. Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate collaborated with truck drivers to divert goods and sell them at reduced prices.

The police intercepted two trucks, one carrying 45,000 liters of molasses, valued at N11 million, which was meant for Benin. The second truck's contents were later recovered at a trailer park in Ogun State.

The total value of the recovered goods is estimated at N60 million.
