Police Officer Dies in Crash on Third Mainland Bridge

A tragic incident occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge, where a police officer was killed in an auto crash involving a Lexus vehicle with registration number EP 765 JN and a Bajaj motorcycle ridden by the deceased officer. The collision resulted in immediate injuries to the officer, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident, Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), confirmed the occurrence and stated that the agency responded swiftly to the distress call. Emergency safety measures were initiated to control traffic and prevent further accidents, including the strategic placement of traffic cones and warning devices around the affected area.

The Nigeria Police Force commenced an investigation into the cause of the accident, while LASTMA officials worked to evacuate and recover damaged vehicles to restore normal traffic flow. LASTMA's General Manager, Olalekan Bakar Oki, urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and avoid reckless driving to enhance public safety.
