Terrorists Kill Police Officers in Yobe State Assault

In an overnight assault attributed to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), police officers participating in advanced combat training were killed in Yobe State, Nigeria. The Nigerian Police Force confirmed the deaths in a statement issued on Saturday by ACP Anthony Placid.

The attack occurred while the officers were engaged in military training at an institute, with insurgents reportedly launching the assault from different directions. Despite fierce resistance from security personnel, several Nigerian Army personnel also lost their lives during the confrontation.

Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu described the slain officers as courageous and dedicated to national security. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and assured that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

Usman Jibrin, representing the police leadership, visited the training institute to commiserate with the command school and encouraged surviving officers to remain focused on completing their training in honor of their fallen colleagues. The Inspector General assured that the Nigerian Armed Forces would continue to work closely with security agencies to bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice.
