Abuja Police Launch Crackdown on Traffic Violators

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has initiated a crackdown on traffic violators in Abuja, as directed by Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, on Sunday. The enforcement aims to arrest and prosecute motorists who drive against traffic, known as “one-way,” and other reckless driving behaviors.

This initiative is intended to improve road safety, ensure smoother traffic flow, and prevent loss of lives and property due to traffic violations. Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, emphasized the need for personnel to clamp down on dangerous driving and to conduct intensified patrols around major roads and congested areas to deter traffic robbers.

CP Sanusi instructed that the enforcement must be conducted professionally and legally, warning against any form of extortion or harassment by police officers. He stated that officers violating public rights would face disciplinary action.

The Command also urged motorists to obey traffic regulations and report suspicious activities to the police.
