Oyo Police Arrest Five Suspects for Arms Stockpiling

On Wednesday, the Oyo State Police Command arrested five suspects in connection with arms stockpiling. The arrests were made following the discovery of firearms and incriminating items linked to Surajudeen Adio, a former member of the park management system.

Olayinka Ayanlad, the police public relations officer, announced the arrests on behalf of the state police commissioner, Olugbenga Abimbola, at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan. One of the suspects, Muideen Adio, had recently returned from Poland.

The state government had previously demolished a building alleged to be used for storing arms and ammunition as part of efforts to eliminate properties linked to criminal activities. This demolition included a three-bedroom bungalow in Lako Community, Aiyegun, which was reportedly a hideout for a kidnapping syndicate.

The suspects denied involvement in the alleged crimes, claiming they only visited the area to seek financial assistance.
