Police Investigate Death of Bayelsa Corps Member Stanley Okebaram

The Bayelsa State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the death of Stanley Okebaram, a 27-year-old National Youth Service Corps member. His body was recovered from a body of water in the Nembe Local Government Area after he was reported missing.

Musa Mohammed, the police spokesperson, confirmed that detectives are conducting a discreet investigation to ascertain the circumstances of Okebaram's death. He was a graduate of civil engineering and a former president of the Students’ Union Government at the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede.

Okebaram was last seen on July 24, 2026, and a missing person report was filed on July 25 by fellow corps member Aribisola Bisi Isaac. The police had launched a search operation following his disappearance, which ultimately led to the recovery of his body.

This incident has raised concerns among NYSC members regarding the safety of corps members in remote areas, particularly in light of previous incidents involving kidnappings and attacks.
