NRC MD Praises Police for Recovering Stolen Railway Assets

On Friday, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), commended the Nigeria Police Force for their efforts in recovering railway assets valued at 200 million naira and arresting three suspects involved in railway vandalism. This recognition occurred during a courtesy visit to the Oyo State Police Command, where he met with CP Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola.

Dr. Opeifa emphasized the importance of collaboration between the NRC and security agencies to protect railway infrastructure from vandalism. He described the nation's railway infrastructure as a critical national asset that requires safeguarding.

The arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation in Niger State and Lagos, marking a significant breakthrough in the fight against railway vandalism. Dr. Opeifa called for public support in providing credible information to assist security agencies in preventing criminal activities targeting railway facilities.

He also urged the National Assembly to strengthen existing laws against vandalism and impose stiffer penalties for offenders.
