Police Recover Stolen Toyota Camry, Arrest Suspect in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command successfully recovered a stolen 2016 Toyota Camry from a hotel in Ifo and arrested one suspect, Monday Adetunji, less than eight hours after the vehicle was reported stolen. The vehicle, owned by an Indian national based at the Ilupeju Industrial Estate in Lagos, was allegedly taken by the owner's driver, Waidi Olaide Kolawale, on September 9, 2026.
Kolawale, who had been employed only two days prior, informed his employer that he was taking the vehicle to a vulcaniser for a tyre repair before absconding with it. The police tracked the vehicle electronically to the Ifo area, where it was located around 8:30 PM.
Upon the police's arrival, Kolawale fled with the ignition key, while Adetunji was apprehended. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had attempted to approach a mechanic to remove the vehicle's catalyst.
The police secured the vehicle and are continuing efforts to apprehend Kolawale and investigate the incident further.
