Edo Police Recover Stolen Vehicles, Arrest Suspects

On June 22, 2026, the Edo State Police Command conducted operations that led to the recovery of two stolen vehicles and the arrest of suspects. According to a statement issued by the command's spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, the first vehicle was recovered during a stop-and-search operation along Siluko Road in Benin City.

The second vehicle, a Daihatsu Hijet mini bus with registration number GBZ 646 YK, was intercepted during a routine checkpoint operation on Textile Mill Road. Preliminary checks revealed that the vehicle belonged to Dr. Timothi Etinosa, who had previously given it to Emmanuel Afolayan under a hire purchase agreement.

Afolayan absconded with the vehicle in 2024, and it was subsequently sold to the driver, Ezekiel Aguel, who was arrested. Afolayan, the principal suspect, will face charges upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Mondai Agbonika, commended the officers involved and emphasized the importance of proactive policing strategies.
