Nigeria Police Reject Kidnapping Collusion Allegations

The Nigeria Police Force has categorically denied allegations made by Martins Vincent Otse, known as ‘VeryDarkMan’ (VDM), regarding police collusion with kidnappers to abduct individuals for ransom. Otse's comments were made during the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Conference in Port Harcourt, where he claimed that police officers at checkpoints relay information about wealthy travelers to kidnappers.

The Force, represented by Public Relations Officer CSP Anietie Iniedu, stated that such allegations are unsubstantiated and damaging to the institution. The police emphasized their role in preventing crime and protecting citizens, asserting that officers face significant dangers while performing their duties.

The Nigeria Police Force has invited Otse to provide evidence for his claims and assured that any substantiated allegations against individual officers would be thoroughly investigated. The statement highlighted the demoralizing effect of blanket accusations on the majority of officers who serve with integrity.
