Police Rescue INEC Staff and Recover Cattle in Zamfara

On July 8, 2023, police in Zamfara conducted a significant operation in Gando Forest, leading to the rescue of Mr. Aliyu Moham, an INEC official assigned to the National Examinations Council (NECO). He was abducted while transporting NECO examination scripts along the Gummi-Sokoto road.

The police, responding to a distress call, found his abandoned vehicle and subsequently engaged in a fierce gun battle with heavily armed bandits who had invaded the Ruwan Bore district. The operation resulted in the recovery of hundreds of rustled cattle and the rescue of the abducted official unharmed.

DSP Yazid Abubakar, the police spokesman, confirmed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts against banditry in the state. The police also reported that several bandits sustained gunshot injuries and fled the scene.

CP M Bello reaffirmed the command's commitment to combating criminal activities and urged residents to support security agencies with credible information.
