Akwa Ibom Police to Impound Vehicles with Covered Number Plates from October 10

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced the commencement of a nationwide ban on vehicles with covered or obscured number plates, effective from October 10, 2025. The directive applies to various categories of vehicles, including those belonging to VIPs, security aides, and government agencies.

The move aims to curb crimes perpetrated by individuals using such vehicles to evade identification. Violators will face penalties, including impoundment of their vehicles.

CP Baba Moham Azare reiterated the commitment to enforcing the ban without bias, ensuring public safety and order in Akwa Ibom State.
