Police Bust Fake Drug Warehouses in Lagos, Two Arrested

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command uncovered two warehouses allegedly used for repackaging counterfeit pharmaceutical products and arrested two suspects, Eze Okwudilichukwu, 52, and Chukwudi Mba, 42, during an intelligence-led operation. Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani disclosed the arrests on Monday at the Violent Crime Response Unit in Ijora Olopa.

The suspects were apprehended at Number 7A Otto Causeway, Otto, Lagos, where they were found repackaging suspected adulterated drugs for distribution across Nigeria. Following their arrest, detectives discovered another warehouse, recovering a truck loaded with large quantities of suspected adulterated pharmaceutical products.

Items seized included about 300 cartons of suspected adulterated Omeprazole, unpackaged Viagra, and other drugs. Preliminary investigations indicated that the syndicate had been active for over two years, with products also destined for Lomé, Togo, suggesting a transnational distribution network.

Efforts are ongoing to locate the manufacturing facility and dismantle the operation.
