Osun Police Warn Against Forceful Local Government Takeover

The Osun State Police Command has warned individuals and groups against any attempts to forcefully take control of local government areas in the state. This warning was articulated in a statement by Police Public Relations Officer Abiodun Ojelabi on behalf of Commissioner of Police (Election) Samuel Erale.

The police received reports of plans by certain individuals or groups to seize control despite ongoing judicial proceedings regarding the matter. Ojelabi stated that such actions would be considered self-help and a breach of peace.

The police emphasized that no individual or political group has the right to use force to assume control of any local government area while legal processes are active. They urged all parties to exercise patience and allow the courts to resolve the issue.

The police also warned that any attempts to disrupt local government facilities would lead to arrest and prosecution. Erale congratulated Osun residents on the peaceful conclusion of the recent governorship election and called for respect for the rule of law.
