Osun Police Warn Against Forceful LG Secretariats Takeover

The Osun State Police Command issued a warning on Monday against individuals and groups attempting to forcefully take over local government affairs or premises in Osun State. Commissioner of Police, Election, Samuel Etaifo Erale, expressed concern over reported plans to occupy local government facilities while legal disputes remain unresolved in court.

Erale congratulated the citizens of Osun State for the peaceful conclusion of the recent governorship election and commended stakeholders for their democratic participation. He emphasized that no individual, political group, or association has the right to engage in self-help or use force.

The Commissioner urged all parties involved in the local government dispute to exercise patience and respect the judicial process. He warned that any attempt to disrupt local government facilities would be treated as a serious breach of peace, leading to potential arrests and prosecutions.

Erale called on community leaders to advise their supporters against actions that could undermine peace and security.
